So, there is a new game being developed by PlayLogic and Icon called Vertigo. Upon watching the trailer which is pretty much entirely gameplay, I had a sense of deja vu. The game is very reminiscent of Marble Blast Ultra which is on Xbox Live. In fact, it is so reminiscent I was convinced it was the same developers, it is not. The premise is simple, you roll a ball, called a Xorb in this game, around a track/course and have to avoid dying. The XBL title was fun enough, but not worthy of being a standalone game. What looks to be the clincher for the Wii is full balance board support. The trailer shows players leaning and tilting like mad to make the ball stay its course. The game will have Career, Arcade, Time Trial and 4 multi-player modes including a death match (not exactly sure how they are going to pull that off…). Vertigo is set to release sometime during the first quarter of this year and there is no info on pricing, though I’m not sure they can get away with a $40-50 price tag.
